St. Gregori (Girona) has been the place where the second race of the Open de España Maxxis 2008 has been celebrated. This year, the fog has been the great protagonist in the early morning but, little by little, it has been disappearing to let the sun shine during the rest of the day.

At 10 a.m. the race for women, cadets, juniors, M30 and M40 has started.

During the first lap, Marga Fullana (MASSI-ILLES BALEARS) was first followed by Anna Villar (MASSI). Finally, Marga Fullana has managed to be the first one crossing the final line followed by of Anna Villar and Ruth Moll (TOSCAF BH SUNTOUR). Miranda Agustí (BASOLI DERBI) has been the first woman in junior.

In cadet category , Adrià Noguera (FORNELLS BTT) has obtained the victory after a duel with Carlos Sabadell (TOT BICI LA PALMA) who has been second in this race of the Open de España Maxxis 2008.

The first three juniors have gone all together during practically the whole race but, finally, the Portuguese Ricardo Paulo (Bttrilhos) has been the first one followed by Francisco López (CEMELORCA-SEGUROS10.COM) and Umbert Almenara (ECP-TAU CERAMICA).

The M30 have also done a very good performance, being first Xavier Carnicer (MASSI), second, Josep Betalú (PROGRESS-OKI-CYCLING TEAM) and, in third position, José Luís Parra (CEMELORCA-SEGUROS10.COM).

The most veteran, the M40, also have wanted to participate in this race. Manuel Rojo (DR. BIKE GRANADA CD) has been the first one arriving at the finish line, followed by Tomás Navarro (CICLOS SARABIA) and Miquel Prat (ESTEVE).

At 12 p.m. the exit to the national elite has been given, between them there were also the sub23 and senior riders.

 The elite have been the first ones in finishing the race in which Juan Pedro Trujillo (CEMELORCA-SEGUROS10.COM) has been the winner, followed by Martí Gispert (ECP-TAU CERAMICA) and Alejandro Díaz de la Peña (c.c.tierra de barros- spezialized). In senior, José Juan Marrase (PROGRESS-OKI-CYCLING TEAM) has ended in first position ahead of Óscar Juárez (CCSEPELACO) and Noel Trillo (COLUER-OKI). The sub23 have finished the race in the following order: in first position, David Lozano (MSC BIKES), in second position, Joan Marc Perarnau (MASSI) and, in third position, Sergio Pulido (CEMELORCA-SEDGUROS10.COM).

That has been all for this second race of the Open de España Maxxis 2008. We will have to wait for the third one that will be celebrated in Cordova next June, the 8^th to see more mountain bike. See you soon!
